ALSO GUT, ES IST SOWEIT...
November 16, 2006 – December 23, 2006

The video work shown in the courtyard of the Ehegraben was produced in 2002 in collaboration with Swiss award winning Marianne Mettler.

‘Also, gut, es ist soweit…’ (Very well then, the time has come…), so far from death and yet so close. A last impression. Emptiness ahead. Is it the end with its deep black nothingness, or still its bright illumination?! We don’t know – but the eye that has filled our life with manifold impressions is famished and finally ready to close for eternity. Elderly people narrate their last impressions of life. Enough! Off! Over!

The prose text of the Irish author Samuel Beckett imparts with its painful poetry the prevailing mood for the film, for ‘when my love dies, rain should fall on the graveyard…’

Massimo Della Monica lives and works in Zurich and Munich, he has studied at the ‘Akademie für darstellende Kunst Burghausen’ and at the ‘Hochschule für Theater und Musik München (direction for theater and film)’. In his productions he turns from traditional and formalistic patterns away and towards new reduced, aesthetic forms.

The floor installation of Werner Widmer in the passageway of the Ehegraben sensitively picks up the dramatic art of death and just alike allows no escape from debate. Widmer will simultaneously to the Zurich exhibition show another installation on the same subject in the Kulturpavillon in Wil.
