For the second anniversary event Sandra Kühne will take us on a journey into her studio, her world and finally to the north of the Arctic Ocean. In October 2014 she was sailing together with twenty-five other artists during three weeks on a three-master bound to Spitzbergen. On that evening Sandra Kühne will extensively recount her experiences that took her on the trails of the early North Pole researchers and explorers.
Sandra Kühne’s exhibition ‘Terra Incognita’ that was presented at widmertheodoridis in March 2015 is related to these impressions during her scholarship to Spitzbergen.

Atelier visit:
Saturday, March 19, 2016, 5pm
Rote Fabrik, Seestrasse 395, 8038 Zurich
S-Bahn to Bahnhof Wollishofen or Bus Nr. 161/165 to Rote Fabrik. Enter the studio from the lake/playground side. Limited parking.

Special exhibition: Michael Schnabel – Cages

At the fifth jubilee event we will open for the first time ever the cowshed of the farm premiering Michael Schnabel’s ‘Cages’ in Switzerland. After ‘Cages’ the cowshed will be locked again–what a harmonious and yet extraordinary exhibition site for these aesthetic photographs. The old animal enclosures of ‘Cages’ will be presenting their best–architecturally most beautiful–side. What a wonderful contrast to the harsh charm of the cowshed.

Opening reception:
Saturday, August 27, 2016, 3 pm

Exhibition:
August 27 to December 24, 2016

The anniversary year begins on New Year’s Eve with Sebastian Stadler: A soaring race with tight curves that leads from Palazzo Castelmur up to the Maloja Pass. The video work ‘Sturz ins Bergell – Gegenrichtung’ will be screened one week long from dusk till midnight and will be visible from the outside on our big format window. One video loop lasts 14’24”.

Sebastian Stadler races up the Maloja Pass–based on Rudolf Fischer’s car race from 1952–in a Maserati Granturismo Sport. The camera is mounted on the bumper close to the ground and provides a brutal hard view of the street at night: a delicacy with a charming reference to Claude Lelouch’s 1976 short film ‘C’était un rendez-vous’.

December 31, 2015 – January 8, 2016
Always from dusk till midnight
