Jim Verburg

*1977
Lives and works in Toronto, CN

Bachelor of Fine Arts (with Distinction), Major in Photography, Concordia University, Montreal, QC

Jim Verburg’s work in photography, video, print, and installation, has aimed to subtly mine the complexities of romantic and familial relationships. Often working with minimal or abstract shapes and images to create an emotional topography, revealing the intricate layers that constitute intimacy, and the harmonies and dissonances inherent in a personal or interpersonal dynamic. Quietly representing illumination and reflection with an interest in constant unveiling and discovering - the questions of what makes up a whole idea, person, story or interaction.
