TRANSLUCENT DESIRES
May 12, 2022 – May 22, 2022

Andras Fux
Simone Kappeler
Stefan Thiel
Werner Widmer

widmertheodoridis has brought together four artists that use classic techniques in their own very way expressing an intuitive sensuality. ‘Translucent Desires’ plays with layers of light and darkness and juxtaposes the delicate aesthetics of tattoos, the illustrative beauty of gay cruising, the sensuality of translucent x-rays photographs and kinky marble: Four artists, each with one work.

Andreas Fux, documents photographic insights of the underground LGBTQ scene in Berlin before and after the fall of the wall. He gets close to the bold and infamous wanderers through the nightlife of Berlin.

Simone Kappeler, often described as the Grande Dame of Swiss photography, is a virtuoso master of light and shadow. In her works she loves to push the limits of analogue photography.

Stefan Thiel is internationally recognized for his large-scale paper cut-outs of urban and human landscapes. An other portfolio of his practize comprises images of men having sex with other men. Delicate silhouettes that hide most but reveal all at the same time.

Werner Widmer’s work is characterized by a fine, ambiguous subtleness in which he integrates visual and tactile elements.  His new body of work includes a series of ambiguous Greek marble objects.
