GEWISSE ERFAHRUNGEN KÖNNEN ZUR FOLGE HABEN, DASS MAN SIE WIEDERHOLEN WILL
October 7, 2006 – November 11, 2006

The young Swiss artist Christa Brunner will present in the project room ‚Ehegraben’ the second part of the intervention ‚Gewisse Erfahrungen können zur Folge haben, dass man sie wiederholen will’ (certain experiences can cause repetition).

In the first part of this series a loud bang catches the attraction of the visitor, whereas in the second part the soft and continuous ripple of water rouses a sensuous curiosity. Coming closer one detects a woman spitting water, from left to right and back again, out of her mouth. A simple thing – at first sight.

Christa Brunner manages despite the simplicity of the action to draw and keep the attention of the spectator. The natural experience and the game with water sparks interest and childhood memories and creates a tension by the repetitive action. Experiences and beliefs are being devided into smallest time units and then reunited. Basic phenomena as time, space and human body and their mutual influence in perception are being addressed and disclosed. Not replication but interpretation of reality and the way we perceive it are the focal point of Christa Brunner‘s work. Apparently harmless settings can suddenly fall apart.

Intervention I and II were created with support of the artist Renato Müller.

Christa Brunner lives and works in Wil/Zurich and has received several prizes and awards for her work, the Studio Scholarship of the City of Wil (1996-98), the ‚Förderpreis’ of the City of Wil (1992). She is member of the Eastern Switzerland Artist group ‚Ohm41’.
