WERKSCHAU THURGAU 16

widmertheodoridis inaugurates the Werkschau Thurgau 16 in Eschlikon show casting ten artists. The other host sites in Canton Thurgau are the Kunstmuseum Thurgau, Warth; Shed, Frauenfeld; Kunstraum Kreuzlingen; KVA, Weinfelden; Kunsthalle, Arbon; Galerie Adrian Bleisch, Arbon.
The juried Werkschau Thurgau 16 is a triennial focusing on the contemporary artistic creativity in the canton and takes place for the second time. The 2016 edition presents art works of seventy-one artists and collectives from Thurgovia. The seven exhibition sites provide a critical inventory and disclose the wide range of the artistic output of this region: small and large format paintings, photographs or drawings, sculptures made of stone, foamed material or resin, audio pieces, animated videos, powerful multi-media installations or ephemeral, performative interventions. Werkschau Thurgau 16 imparts this artistic variety in a condensed form, presents the known and the unknown and offers a platform for the ones who left, the ones who stayed and the new arrivals in Thurgovia. The show supports mutual perception and exchange among artists and provides discoveries for the public.
Werkschau Thurgau 16 is an initiative of the Kulturstiftung Kanton Thurgau, organized in co-operation with seven art institutions. A printed catalogue is available at each exhibition site or at the Kulturstiftung. All artist’s applications can be viewed at the office of the Kulturstiftung in Frauenfeld (Tue–Thur, 10 am–4 pm).
